But be aware that the data format the PIM apps use to store their data is
subject to change. You don't have any alternative at this point, but you
should be prepared to make some changes down the road. In one of the
PalmSource sessions, David Fedor said the PIM data formats wouldn't change
in Palm OS 5, but will probably change in the next big version after that.

You can add records (but not read or edit them) using the Local exchange
library. This should continue to work even when the data format changes.
