Guy, Gals whoever reads this please keep one thing in mind that has helped the Palm be what it is today.
When the OS couldn't do what the developer needed to be done the developer was able to "roll their own" code and control the display/port/event loop/ whatever hardware to do what they wanted. Some examples of this are I have created and use a right justified caption class. I've also created fast no flicker graphic screen scrolling. Interrupt driven serial classes. Total control of the hardware buttons, etc. My point is please, please do not prevent us from doing these things in OS5. This allows the Palm platform to do more than it was originally thought it could do. Give us tools but don't tie up our imagination in exchange for a OS written by just a few people. After all, one of the things going for Palm is the HUGE number of developers. What a terrific mindset and range of iminagination to draw from! Let them add to the OS when the application they conceive requires more than what is built in.
