I haven't posted this question to the group, but for those that subscribe to
the Conduit Developer Forum, this will be a repost.
I'm writing a graphics app for the Palm using CW for Palm OS Platform
(Windows version). I want to add the ability for the user to export
drawings as a common file format (e.g., .jpg) to the desktop. Likewise, I
would like to import drawings from the desktop to the Palm -- e.g., on the
desktop, the user would right-click on a drawing file and one of the menu
options would be "export to Palm." The next time the user hotsinks, the
drawing would get uploaded from/to the PC. At the moment I don't care if
the original file format is preserved if the user, in-turn, exports the
drawing back to the desktop (e.g., some information may get stripped out
that my drawing app doesn't use), though I don't suspect that's germane to
what I'm doing. I'd like to stick with C++ if possible. Eventually, I would
like to port my conduit to the Mac, if its not too painful (I've never
programmed on a Mac).
I have CodeWarrior for Palm, v8.0. I also have CodeWarrior for Windows,
v7.0 & Visual C++ v5.0. I don't own Visual C++ 6.0, but can get it. I'm
happy with all of the above compilers, so my loyalties aren't too strong for
any of them. If I could stick with CW I would, just so I'm switching back
and forth between different interfaces.
I'm not really that interested in upgrading to the Enterprise version of CW
if I can help it, only because of the costs. My questions are:
- Which of the above compilers can I use?
- What technologies do I need to get up to speed on to develop my
conduit?
- How will porting my conduit to a Mac effect which technologies I chose
for the Windows version?
I know these are very basic questions, but if someone where to take a few
minutes and clue me in, it would save me hours of research.
Thanks!
Rich
