Yes. That's exactly what I meant. Whenever I have something I don't want to lose, I write it to a backup CD. Not actually to a unique location every time, but to somewhere other than my hard disk or RAM. I truly sympathize with anyone who loses work done on a computer. Computer work is tedious, time-consuming, frequently boring, often unrewarding, but sometimes very satisfying.
