You cold have the server send an SMS message to the PDA telling it some data is available. One option is to periodically make data calls and query the server. Is there a way to initiate a data call from the other device without having connected to the network?
If you use NetLib, it should be basically the same as using a circuit-switched data connection. What _may_ be different is values that Netlib reports for the # of connections open. You may also need to fiddle with the inactivity setting if you want to keep a connection alive. Our GSM operators still do not offer GPRS. I would be grateful if someone has played with it and can give me some advice how to use it. Is programming GPRS the same as programming data calls?
I base these comments on using a high-speed CDMA data connection on a Treo 300, not GPRS on a Treo 180/270, so YMMV.
