i wouldn't release the source code - releasing the binary got me grilled enough as it was! (check palm-entrepreneurs-forum archives)
Yeah, I remember that. I'm thinking maybe I'll make the .h file available, and if a developer expresses interest, send them the .cpp file only after I'm convinced they aren't going to develop a malicious application... e.g., babysit the code.
part of the reason hwy more |HaCkMe| type applications dont exist is solely due to the fact that it is NOT documented. can you think of a real legitimate reason for someone to really know how the DlkUserInfo resource works
Sure, the IT mgr in charge of administering many Palm OS devices might want to predetermine the Hotsync username & IDs that a device uses prior to its first sync. Perhaps the HS username becomes the employee's email address, employee #, or other UID.
I think there was a post just the other day on this topic, and I am presently consulting with a company who wants to do precisely this, as well. AFAIK, the only way to do this is to set the hotsync user name, and some other things, before the device enters the hands of a 'real' user.
its your choice ultimately. i got grilled on this subject before and i wouldn't wish it onto anyone else - unless you want that. :)
Nope. That's why I'm querying this group BEFORE I put the source code out there. So far, sounds like it's too risky, especially from what you tell me about #palmwarez. Most of those IRC hack-kiddies are smart, and tend to catch on VERY fast.
