I don't have an answer, but I'm interested in this as well. Does the write-on-screen feature generate penDown and penMove events on the active form, and if so, is it possible to distinguish between a Graffiti stroke and a regular pen event?
I don't have a Zire71 myself so I can't test this out. Seeing that Graffiti2 is a rebranded version of CIC Jot, I could try experimenting with that.
The Palm SG SDK (pluggedin.pa.m.com) includes example code for turning on and off the "write-on-screen" capabilities of the new Palm devices. Look at the FullScreenWriting project in the SDK's examples folder.
