I open using my creator ID, and type 'Rsrc', is that right?
Maybe. How are you creating your database? Programs usually have type 'appl', rather than 'Rsrc', but a secondary resource database can have any type.
Must I somehow close the resource database first? (I don't think I did anything special to open it, it's just automatically opened.) Will that ruin any locked handles I have to other resources in that database?
No, database opens are stacked. Just DmOpenDatabase it, do your writes and resizes, then DmCloseDatabase.
