I am also finding some very strange behavior with system sounds. I agree with the above posts about caching. I can successfully use SndSetDefaultSound to set system and alarm sound types. But the problem is trying to determine the current settings for these sound types prior to setting them. I have tried both PrefGetPreference and SndGetDefaultSound to capture the System and/or Alarm settings. The values that come back make no sense! The define MaxAmp is set to 64 and the values that come back from these 2 calls are in the range of 0x6000. That value make no sense. Is not close to an overflow value. Also is not maskable to a value that makes sense. Does anyone know what's going on? Is there something I an doing wrong to grab the current sound level settings?
The other strange thing is that these calls work correctly in the Debug Treo 650 Simulator. I am doing this on a Sprint ROM 1.08 Treo 650. Jeff Gibson [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- For information on using the Palm Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
