FlashPro allows you to write any file to ROM, including your data files. So it can be used to backup an entire application. I have a Symbol 1550 (no, it does not have a memory card slot) application with several thousand devices out in the field, and they all use FlashPro to avoid loss of both application and data.
Mucking around with ROM is a dangerous business; my advice would be to write to the FlashPro calls and let it handle the ROM processes. _______________________________ Lee Church MobiTech Systems Inc. This is not a surprise as I warned him before hand that if the batteries are removed there is no backup battery and after about 2 minutes all data is lost. I purchased a product called FlashPro which allows you to store the app in flash so that is not lost ...but obviously that is the least of his worries. > > > > What I was thinking of doing was periodically saving the database to Flash (ROM). My question is this: is this feasible and doable programatically or do you need a ROM builder? Having seen FlashPro I am sure that it must be possible to automate for a specific database. > > > > Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. > > > > Les > > (Time & Data Systems South Africa) > > > > > -- > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Henk Jonas [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Palm OS ® certified developer > > Please contact me, if you need an off-side contract worker. > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > -- > For information on using the PalmSource Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/ -- For information on using the PalmSource Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/forums/
