thanks for your willingness to help. I could even send you the complete
data.
I am slowly getting used to the PalmSource Installer. The overall concept is
good, however there are some missing fetures and - more importantly - bugs.
Here is what I found so far:
- It creates empty undeleteable files on the emulator, i.e. delete must wait
for the emulator exit. (All emulators but one.)
- It does not notice if there is insufficient card space. It simply installs
whatever can be installed and skips the rest without saying a word.
- It unpacks complete data in RAM before copying them to the card. (=>
Larger packages must be divided into several parts or they probably fail to
install due to the insufficient memory.)
- Installer that worked correctly on several PDA's failed to work on Z72 in
a quite disastrous way:
It installed a corrupted prc that crashed the Palm Launcher every time the
app icon came into view. (Luckily that our app starts with W character.)
To be open, before starting I was considering building my own installer.
While it would take longer to make it, problems like those listed would not
certainly happen.
