Doing a more careful (i.e. correct) job and looking for reasonable cable attenuation values I get the following _plausible_ range of excess noise for PAPER (meaning, it gets added onto Tlna + Tsky).
Assumes 28 dB LNA gain and 4 dB noise figure on the receiver module. The range of cable loss corresponds to 0.04 - 0.14 dB/m over 150 m. The catalog value for RG-8 mid-band is the green dot, so Danny’s 20 dB is probably wrong? If not, it would account for a lot of noise (again, assuming the above). Rich - do you recall the values?
