Not for this older pair of eyes. I love my iPhone, but I'd love to have some
visual enlargement. And frankly, I don't need a full-powered laptop when out

touch-screen and the iPhone's interface.
Proprietary and idiotic? No way. You just haven't tried one. :)
Actually I had one for several days for evaluation. Basically it is a
giant I phone which can't make calls. If you want a computer, if falls
far short of even a netbook. Where it may shine someday is as a reader
for magazines and other media needing colour but that's only if Apple
can get the licenses that Amazon and Google already have for their book
readers as well as new contracts with newspapers and magazine/comic
publishers. As it stands now it is neither fish nor fowl.
BTW, I have never felt a real need for a notebook. Mine is so old it is
USB 1.0. If I need to transport data I do it on cards or keys and plug
them into something with a better screen and processor than any laptop.
Now if they offered the 1Pad with a screen the equal of a Cintiq they
would be the answer to a digital artist's prayers. Unfortunately it is
not even close to the bottom end tablets of several years back.
Apple often gets great ideas and then stops short of perfecting them
then their ego keeps them from making the needed changes.
The iPhone rocks and I'll be getting an iPad, so don't trash it like that.
Gonzo will get angry.
The I phone is adequate but I broke 3 in the first month they were out.
They are rather fragile so I switched to a tougher phone. I can even
replace the battery in the one I use now.
