Hi Bones, I built Vinicio's Jupiter 2 a long time ago. He did a great job on it and was very helpful to answer me when I had questions building a few portions of it. Unfortunately, he had decided not to develop it any further so I asked him if he would mind if I started on a design of my own. He very garaciously sent me all of the AutoCAD files he had up to then and gave me his blessing.
Vinicio incorporated some very ingenious engineering solutions in his original design work. I did not want to copy his work, but to try to comup with my own solutions in the design process. I want to do this so as to not draw away attention to his original work and ensure he gets the credit he truly deserves. Yes, I am designing the Jupiter 2. For the past year or so, however, I have not been able to do much of anything with it because of various reasons, one of which was an engineering problem that Rick Steffers offered a viable solution at last year's IMPC in Virginia. It is not that hard to develop a model pattern, but it is harder to develop one that is easy to build (relatively) and has no design flaws (or at least that's my goal. I build every model several time as I design them to ensure that they can be built and that the pieces fit as they are supposed to. I also try to make sure that alignment and warpage problems are as minimal as possible. Things are a lot better now and I have begun digging myself out of this hole. I apologize to all for this lack of progress and hope to get back on track really soon. Bones, I wish you the best in your endeavors! I'm really excited to see someone else working on this. I love to see how others tackle designs and texture their creations (my really weak area). You can see the current progress of my Jupiter 2 at PENDERCRAFT. They host all of my available models and will be the exclusive download site once I get the Jupiter 2 finished. http://www.pendercrafts.com Click on the blue "click here to enter site" link at the bottom center of the home page.
