One of my favorite and most often used tool is a plastic drafting circle
guide, meant for drawing circles. I've got several, with holes ranging
from "tiny" up to more than 2 inches. They're cheap, which is why I've
got several.
So many models, especially aircraft and spacecraft, use tapered cones
that are meant to be perfectly round in cross section. A circle guide
can be used to hold that circular cross section, especially handy when
inserting internal bulkheads, or a circular end cap as in the photo of
the Gemini 4 space capsule I'm building.
The cone, without help, is "almost circular" but a little floppy when
trying to glue the circular cap. I just find the circle guide with the
size hole I want and slip it over the cone. This draws the cone into a
perfect circle for the addition of the new part.
Can't tell you how often I resort to this trick. A real help and timesaver.

I'm stealing all my husband's drafting templates. (Don't tell anyone)
By the way, is anyone keeping a stash/website/resource of these tips?
