Sorry, I meant "New Sphere Model Plans". I have been assembling the first version with the overlapping pieces. It works pretty well, except that one must be careful with the holes close to the edge, and the closest ones can't be used. The ones that are close but still usable should be pricked out with a sewing needle rather than an awl and one should try not to mess about with them too much, otherwise they will tear. I'm about to try reinforcing the places where this has happened on my working model with watercolor tape. I think this should work.
I thought adding the last piece might be difficult, but it was actually very easy. Another problem is the place where the ends are supposed to meet up. It's possible to poke holes through the pieces close to the ends and thread through them, and then work them together. It works better with two holes per end rather than one. It's not easy to make measurements on the pieces once the model is partially assembled, so I just "eyeballed" it on my working model. The result is not too bad, but I will put crosshairs on the plans as soon as I can. A better solution for this problem would be some kind of "polar cap". I have an idea for this and will try to make and post plans as soon as I can. Laurence Finston -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Papermodels II" group.
