It looks like I can keep the printer comments in my "future" file.

After a frustrating experience with Canon's website, my local dealer, and
google, I finally called Canon's support line. They offer a 1 year warranty
on this printer. I told them my problem and... bottom line, they sent me a
new printer. It arrived two days after the call, it's a newer model, and it
seems to be working quite well.

So anything bad I said about Canon... I take it back. :) I think I just got
a lemon.

I'll let y'all know in six months. Or I'll be crabbing about my printer at
the card model convention next month.
