2 one-year Postdoctoral Fellowships

Following the award of funding from Trinity College’s Long Room Hub, the Centre
for Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies (MNES) is pleased to offer two
Postdoctoral Fellowships in the following areas:

(1) Greek papyrology/history of Greco-Roman Egypt.
(2) Mediterranean and Near Eastern archaeology.

- The Fellow in Greek papyrology, in addition to her/his research project, will
be expected to develop, for submission to funding authorities, a proposal for
the digitisation of the College Library’s papyrus collection. MNES
administrative tasks will be assigned and it is hoped the Fellow will teach one
undergraduate course. Practical papyrological experience will be required.
- The Fellow in archaeology, in addition to her/his research project, will be
expected to develop, for submission to funding authorities, a proposal for the
digitisation of the holdings of the College’s Weingreen Museum of Antiquities.
MNES administrative tasks will be assigned and it is hoped the Fellow will
teach one undergraduate course. Experience of handling and cataloguing
artefacts will be required.

In order to apply intending candidates must

(a) have successfully completed a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field
(b) give a brief description (500 words) of the potential research to be
undertaken during the tenure of the fellowship
(c) submit a full CV (including all publications to date) along with two
academic references

The salary will be EUR 44,311 p.a. The successful candidates will be asked to
start as soon as possible, but at any rate on 1 September 2008.
