Best wishes to all; Malcolm. ------ Macquarie University International Scholarships in Coptic Studies Macquarie University is offering two scholarships for International Students to study online in the Master of Arts program in Coptic Studies for the academic years 2009-2010. The Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and cover international tuition fees for study in the M.A in Coptic Studies degree (total value: $AUD 22,000-24,000). Applications from international students from all countries will be accepted, however, for one scholarship, preference will be given to eligible candidates from Egypt. The scholarships aim at attracting outstanding students from around the world to the study of Egyptian Christianity and the Coptic language. Macquarie University offers Coptic Studies as an independent M.A. degree by coursework. The program covers Coptic History, Language, Art, Archaeology and Egyptian Monasticism. This degree can be completed entirely by online study. Course materials, including lectures and lecture notes, are delivered to the students via the websites and via the electronic reserve of Macquarie University Library. Assignments and essays are submitted, marked and returned electronically. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, hold a BA degree or equivalent from a recognised institution (a degree in Coptic Studies or any other historical subject is not a prerequisite), and meet the University’s academic and English requirements for the program. The applications will be evaluated on academic merit by a selection committee.
