Dear colleagues,
Please bring the following to the attention of interested students.
Thanks,
Peter van Minnen

Each year the Department of Classics at the University of Cincinnati awards
several Ph.D. fellowships to qualified students in ancient history, Bronze Age
and classical archaeology, and classical philology. All these disciplines are
represented among its faculty, which, according to a report released earlier
this
year, ranks first in scholarly productivity among Classics departments in North
America. The resources available to the Department, foremost the Classics
Library, support the entire range of ancient world studies. A generous
endowment makes it possible to offer students the optimum environment for
study and academic and professional development, at home and abroad.

The Department will consider applications from qualified students from around
the world. The deadline for application is January 15 of each year, and
admission
decisions will be made soon after. Details about the application procedure can
be found on or through the Department's website, http://classics.uc.edu/.
Interested students should check out the profiles of the 13 (soon 14) faculty
members and the projects they and their students are involved in. The current
graduate student body is quite diverse, and students from eight different
countries regularly take graduate courses in archaeology, history, and philology
or work on their dissertations in Cincinnati or, where appropriate, abroad.
