I am pleased to announce that the famous Charta Borgiana (SB I 5124), the
first Greek Papyrus coming from Egypt to Europe and whose publication
conventionally marks the beginning of Papyrology came to life again
In fact it was affected by mould in a showcase of Museo Archeologico
Nazionale in Naples, where it was exhibited, and it turned the risk of being
completely destroyed.
At Museum Director¹s invitation, during last October, a team of restorers
from University of Lecce, directed by myself, carefully cleaned and restored
the papyrus.
