If I build a PAR EXE on WinXP ( AcvtivePerl 5.8.2, PAR 0.76.99 ) and try and run it on my Windows 98 system, I get a popup "This program has performaned an illegal operation..... PAR has caused an invalid page fault in module PERL56.DLL..."
This sounds really wrong. Did you perhaps downloaded the prebuilt .par file for 5.6.1? ActivePerl 5.8.2 should not list Perl56.dll at all.
