The Developer's Training Week will cover our open-source projects including VTK, ITK, ParaView and CMake. These hands-on courses are appropriate for both new users wishing to quickly gain proficiency and experienced developers requiring advanced customization skills. The Developer’s Training Week is a great opportunity to meet some of the key contributors to these open-source projects as well as other users in the open source community.

The course runs Tuesday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm. The course schedule is:

This session provides an introduction to VTK, ITK, ParaView, and CMake, and an overview of the open source communities, products, and services that support these projects.

VTK Track 1: Tuesday PM through Wednesday PM
Targeted for beginners, this session provides a basic understanding of the VTK pipeline mechanism and the rendering subsystem. Attendees are led through detailed examples to quickly gain a working knowledge of the visualization and data processing capabilities of VTK for various data types.

VTK Track 2: Tuesday PM through Wednesday PM
This session covers advanced topics in VTK including custom filter writing, information visualization, multi-block and composite data handling, time support, interaction and widgets, and parallel data processing.

CMake / CDash / CTest: Thursday AM
Learn how you can use the open-source software process tools employed by VTK, ITK, and ParaView in order to quickly and easily build and test your own software projects in a heterogeneous computing environment.

ITK: Thursday PM through Friday PM
This session covers the basic architecture of ITK, the use of its image segmentation and image registration algorithms, the methods used for interfacing ITK to VTK, and the common techniques for integrating ITK into existing applications.

ParaView: Thursday PM through Friday PM
The first part of this session offers an introduction to ParaView from a user's perspective, providing you with the knowledge necessary to effectively process and visualize your data. The second part of the course is geared toward developers who would like to create custom functionality and incorporate it into ParaView.

As a course attendee, you will receive:
- Books / course notes for the sessions you attend
