No, don't recompile Paraview. In the worst case, you simply want to install python 2.7 (same as Paraview) on your computer, add the numpy library, and set your PYTHONPATH to this new numpy directory.
I check if the numpy import works well with the binary package on a 64-bits linux, I will let you know. For now, I'm on a windows machine.
