Jean-Michel, I am not able to reproduce what you are reporting with 4.3.1 or 4.4.
Did you remember to click the + sign when adding the property? The first time I tried I forgot to do that, and the Function property was not exposed in my custom filter. When I did add the property, it was exposed.
