The whiteknight/kill_threads branch needs testing. It removes the old threading system, related features and tests. Everything else should continue to work normally with no changes. There should be no negative performance repercussions for projects not using threading.
I have run allhlltest on it this morning and things are looking pretty good there. I do not have ICU installed on this box, so NQP failed tests and Rakudo build had troubles. Also, Lua had a test problem that I need to look into (I don't know if Lua is using threads). I'm going to test it again when I get home. Test reports would be appreciated. There is no real hurry to merge this branch immediately. We can hold it for a while if we want to start working on a replacement. Please let me know if there are any serious concerns.
