interesting! I didn't realise this. I can confirm that ^L in gnome-terminal just scrolls the contents of the windows up. I don't think that is a bug, it is actually more convenient that way. the workaround is to add less to the pipeline (and make sure you run less without -X of course). -- Kjetil T.
