I am just catching up with my PDC email. In our profession, once you are called in for your "expert" opinion it does usually touch other domains. Most of the companies these days pretty much hire you for some specific skill you have or interested in. The rest of it is on the job training. You may be a great programmer in xyz language, but then you have to learn about databases, network related issues with your programming, security issues....and on. These are all on the job training. You should be flexible enough to learn these new technologies.
