Brian, We talk about this quite a bit in SANS SEC617. I hate to say it, but I think you are correct on the iPhone side, mostly due to the fact that the wireless drivers are "less than open". To my knowledge, monitor mode support does not exist on non-jailbroken iDevices (I'm not sure about jailbroken ones).
My solution? Go Android. I picked up a Nexus 7 and use the following tools frequently: Kisbee - Zigbee sniffer (for use with 3rd party hardware) Pcap Capture - Monitor mode WiFi capture with a specific ALFA wireless card and OTG cable WiFiFoFum - Rogue AP locator WiFi Analyzer - Kismet-like wireless discovery WiGLE WiFi Wardriving - Kismet-like wireless discovery Cloudshark - Cloud based wireshark for analyzing pcaps Hope that helps. - L On 5/30/13 9:58 AM, Brian Wilhide wrote: > I am curious if anyone has found any good apps for mobile devices for > wifi testing?
