control THIRTY YEARS OF CILIWUNG FLOOD CONTROL PLANNING, THIRTY KILOGRAMS OF STUDY REPORTS: WHAT NEXT? Thirty years have elapsed since the Nedeco Flood Control Master Plan for DKI Jakarta has been established. At the same time, a lot of study reports and media articles have been produced. Not much has been implemented ever since to enhance the flood protection of the more than 10 millions inhabitants of Jakarta. The floods of 1996 and the recent 2002 floods have surprised everybody more than ever. The speaker will make an attempt to highlight the Ciliwung river case and present the technical features. Hopefully, the new look on the Ciliwung river behavior will give rise to fresh and advanced debate on flood-related matters in Jakarta. This presentation is organized by IKANED in cooperation with The Royal Netherlands Embassy - Water Resources Management Department, in a series of workshops on water management.
