Hi all
A thousand apologies for the crosspost, but I need some answers to my questions farely soon, so I'm hoping one of y'all can assist me.
I'm helping a couple of good friends of mine get into broadcasting. I've got them set up with the sam encoders plugin with Winamp and audiostocker for compression. The music levels sound absolutely wonderful, nice and punchy. However, when they talk, the mic levels are lower than we'd like them to be. Through trial and error, we figured out that there's no compression on the mics, which would explain why the levels are low. We figure if we could apply a bit of compression to them we could bring that volume right up there with the music. But the question is how do we do this? They're all set up with a mixer and have everything going through that, so that has to factor in it somehow. They're using one instance of Winamp if that matters, and they're using a laptop.
All we need to do is get everything at a good volume so it sounds even better than it does now. Hopefully one of y'all can help here. If you need more specifics about the kind of laptop, what brand of mixer it is or anything else I can certainly provide that, but I thoughtmaybe throwing the question out there certainly wouldn't hurt. Any help would be greatfully appreciated, not just by me but by my friends as well. They're 99.9% there, they just need to bring those mic levels up a bit and we'll be fine.
Thanks for any help.
