Hi, Frank, I wonder if the option, hide extensions for known file types
is on, and if it is, it should be turned off. To do this, go to either
my computer or windows explorer, press alt v for view, and o for
options, and you should be focused on the general tab of a 3 page tab
control, and if you're not, then shift tab to where it says tab control
general, and once focused on that, right arrow to the view tab, and
then tab down to the tree-view, and hit the letter h until you hear,
hide extensions for known file types, and if it is on, press the space
bar to turn it off, then shift tab back to the button that should say,
view all folders like the current folder, and press the space bar, tab
to okay, how many times it takes to get out of that dialog, and you
should be able to see your file names with extensions. Windows figures
people are afraid of file extensions, but they're nothing to be afraid
of. Sorry for the off topic response, but I figured this was probably
what was causing Frank's problem. This is also from a windows 98 se
and window-eyes perspective, so if the actual names of things varry in
windows xp, I appologize for that.
