It really depends on what you're using the programs for. I use both total recorder and sound forge. I am experimenting with adobe audition, but so far I haven't had a lot of luck editing like I can in sound forge. Sound forge seems to be really easy as far as editing on the fly. total recorder gives you some nice features as well.
