Kevin, Are you using software speech? If so, you have to realize that the stream is one sound source and the total recorder driver essentially acts as the second one. If you were able to use JAWS speech while running Total Recorder through Eloquence or whatever your software speech, you would probably have a driver conflict with RealPlayer or Winamp or whichever program plays the stream. Only way around this that I know of is to use a hardware synthe or a second soundcard to run JAWS. If you do this the speech will not be recorded and you can certainly multitask. I can only speak from my experience with Windows 98 and don't know if there is anything about the XP configuration to allow what you want to do, but I imagine others will comment if they have been successful running TR with software speech. I don't think most people do.
By the way, I don't think you have this problem with on board recording because I don't think the driver is involved. Again, the experts will doubtless correct me if I'm wrong.
