Don,
Using Total Recorder with XP and Service Pack Two, I have been successful in recording software streams without the registry patch and without picking up any background noises from software speech. I'm not sure why XP works in this situation when Windows 98 did not but hopefully it will work for you. Given that Total Recorder does not seem to behave the same for everyone for reasons beyond me, I suggest that you at least try it out. Good luck.

Susan

Subject: Total recorder 5.2 question

Hello,

I posted the below message three days ago but got no response, so
thought I would try again as I really hope to find the answer. Thanks.

A couple of questions if I may.
1. Is it possible using Total Recorder 5.2 to use software recording to
record audio streams if I am using software speech. I do not have the
Total Recorder registry patch that some persons have mentioned.
Question 2. Did I understand someone on this list to say that
accelerated software recording precludes one from using either a
hardware or software synthesizer? I haven't tried this; I just want to
know what others think.
