Hi Dana.

No, creating a lossy copy from a lossless master in either Flac, WMA
lossless or indeed WAV, will not introduce artifacts in the resulting file.
If you have the disc space, this is the best way to archive your CD
collection.  All your music ripped at the highest possible quality with the
ability to create smaller lossy copies when required for portable playback
and the like.
