Yeah, I've had the reboot happen to me a couple of times as well.

The only other thing I can think of is, I DID install that Transcoder plug-in a 
few months back. It seems the problems started a bit after I installed that, so 
maybe I'll remove it and see if that helps...Over all, I've found the 
transcoder somewhat difficult to use and somewhat inaccessible...Though I can't 
think what it would have to do with playing/ripping a CD since I'm not actually 
USING the plug-in for that purpose.
