Hi Sunshine.

Yes, I've done that for line-in to my sound card and was able to make
reasonable recordings. However, my Soundblaster does not have a line-out,
other than Optical that I can use, in order to play audio from my computer
to my hi-fi. Also, the distance is about 5 meters and that is quite a cable
length. The Optic connection would I believe, give me much higher quality
and I've got a couple of very long cables. The problem I have is that the
Optical connection on the Soundblaster serves as both optical in and out,
though changing this is I believe, quite difficult for a partially sighted
person.

Thanks.

Best wishes.

why, not just set the sound card to line in and then run a chord to the
line in on the amp then to the sound card. meanning take the line out source
and then put it into the computer via the line in?

sorry Andy

but my amp wasn't cheap, to me at least. It's a sony audio video amp which
is now discontinued, but sony still produce amps with an optical
input/output, but they are over £300.

however the sony sales are on at the moment so you may get a bit off that
price. sorry I can't help on how to change the soundblaster from an output
to an input, but why not email their technical support for a step by step
guide?

regards

steve green.
