There's a quality of the algorith setting. I'd set that to its highest 
level. Aside from that, the same rules of thumb apply as do to regular 
sound recording. If the dVD is a mono DVD, choose the mono setting or else 
you're simply wasting bandwidth by requesting stereo where no stereo is 
present. Ideally, in a mono recording, you would like to take only the 
left or right channel, but this is rarely an option with rippers of any 
kind. For my Get Smart collection, I chose MP3's of 96K, sticking with the 
48KHz default. For a stereo DVD, I would use 192K MP3's (96 times 2). 
These are my personal preferences, opinions may vary.
