Hi, Extracting DVD audio is going to be slow. Don't quote me on this but I think the program actually extracts the audio in real time. Thus if your DVD audio track is two hours it will take two hours to extract it.
Last I checked and that was around a year ago top end DVD duel layer were running around 16x. I'm sure others will let you know of the latest and greatest.
