Hi
I've been wanting to set up a site for people to download mp3 programs and
podcasts, also the site should have streaming music. Sorry for taking this
thread over slightly, but looking at your recommendations I am curious as
to how they would affect my venture.
I'm not skilled in this area and on investigation, I'm coming up against too
much information which I'm having difficulty processing. My site should have
a download area for programs, but also a streaming music/radio station
ability. A forum and donation section too.
Ready to build sites are hopefully what I would use (accessible if
possible). But when I try hosting firms they say bandwidth is possibly a
problem. Is it wise to stream music from a download site or should the two
be separate? Also is there a difference between a normal site and a
streaming site? I've also seen tools which take a playlist and upload the
files to a site from where they can be played.
Also in the UK what is the position concerning licencing if music is
streamed or included in downloadable programmes or podcasts?
I know a good bit about audio and audio production but all the above baffles
me. Would someone who has the time please explain basic steps as to how I
should go about the above project, perhaps making suggestions. I appreciate
this could be a major task, but I assure you I'm only looking for a coherent
path into it all from which I'll hopefully see some light.
Thanks.
Gordon McFarlane
