Hi.  You really don't need the creative media lite utility as far as 
actually transfering files to the player is concerned.  You can 
simply use windows explorer and transfer them just as you would any 
other drive that shows up under windows explorer. How cool is that! 
No extra software to use, none of that.
   Do you have a bit of usable vision? If so, there is a small orange 
LED light on the player that continually flashes while it's charging, 
and when it's completely charged, the light stays on.  How I do it is 
I just plug it into the USB port when I'm not using it.  It makes 
sure that I don't lose the player, and it also makes sure that it's 
fully charged all the time.  So yep, you can use the program, but you 
really don't have to, unless you're super curious.  go to
