Copying audio onto a computer from vinyl (old fashioned records) or tape is certainly appropriate for the list and the subject seems to be of interest to many list members. So, post away!
If anyone is interested, I use Goldwave to record a wave file from an external turntable, cassette or open reel tape machine. Then I use Nero to burn CDs. I have Diamond Cut Six to clean up noise but I'm by no means very experienced in using most of the features. I have used the noise reduction in Goldwave and it does just a fair job. There are many ways to copy audio onto a CD and I think it comes down to the software and hardware you have and how much you want to spend on additional software and hardware.
