I just checked my Dell Optiplex PC. If my memory is correct, there are 3 ports on most sound cards. jacks are color-coded to correspond to the speaker cable color so it's not something you can figure out by feel. However, on all my Dells in my computer room, the middle jack of the 3 is the one that the speaker cable plugs into. Dan
