Hello Jim, That sounds pretty much like a ground loop problem. The problem with 2 prong and 3 prong power cords is, the 2 prong power cords are grounded with a 1 watt 100 kohm resister to the chassis. All depending on the company that made the unit, this resister is either grounded to the positive or negative wire of the power cord. In a unit that uses a 3 prong cord like your computer, you have a dedicated ground pole. But for some unknown reason, the companies that makes the power supplies for all desk top computers, always uses a 1 watt 100 kohm resister to ground the power cord to the frame of the ten box that the power supplies happens to be in. Sometimes, this causes all kinds of problems. In an audio chane, this kind of a ground loop causes a humming noise. and sometimes, this kind of ground loop can and does causes an electric shock. This will cost you some money, I don't know how much, but have an electrician check all of your outlets to see how they are hooked up. Because if they are hooked up the wrong way, that's where some of the problem is coming from. That 1 watt 100 kohm resister that I spoke of, your equipment can and will work without it. But I wouldn't suggest removing it unless you really know what you're doing. Another thing that you may want to take a look at are your audio cables. A lot of the times, the audio cables that comes with most off the shelf hi-phi tape decks and CD players/changers, are no good. I always replace those with higher quality audio cables just to make sure that I'm getting the best sound that the components can deliver. But that's just me. But however, try changing out the audio cables first. If that doesn't work, then try changing out the power cord on your computer. If all else fails, check with an electrician or get a new mixer.
