Ok I joined this list after this thread began, but what about using Skype to 
call your messages or whatever, and record directly to the computer using 
one of the programs to record skype phone calls?  Total Recorder comes to 
mind and that's only 17 bucks if you buy it.  If you Google "record skype 
calls" you can find a few free apps as well.
