Hi,

You need to be careful buying AT&T phones if you want to continue to use
talks. Locked phones can sometimes prohibit the installation of 3rd party
applications.

Your best bet is to purchase an unlocked phone then insert your sym card
into it!

Of course, you will need to transfer your talks lisence to the new phones's
EMEI for a cost.
Another thing you can try is to contact AT&T and see if they still offer an
accessible phone which is a contract phone with talks installed. They used
to do this with the Nokia 6682 but that is an older phone and may in fact be
the one you are using.

Nokia phones come in many form factors i.e. slider, candy bar, flip etc.

The N82 is a very popular slider phone and works well with talks. You can
also pick up an N95-3 which is also a slider phone with loads of features
including 3g connectivity.

It really depends on what you want the phone to do.

Good candy bar phones that work well with talks are the N73, N79 and E51 and
E71.

Don't grab the E71X from AT&T as it is locked and I have heard that users
are having issues installing talks on it.

Subject: cell phone recommendations, anyone?

Hi listers,

I hope that this is not off topic for this list, but my cell
phone died after four years and I'll need to replace it. Its so old
that at the at&t store here in the sticks of Gardner Mass, they told
me that they no longer could replace the battery a year ago when I
first started having problems. I got a new battery on the internet,
at ebay, and thusly extended the phone's life for quite
cheaply. However, now I think its about time to get a new one.

So, I am an a t and t customer. What would be a good phone
to get. I've been using the talks software, but, I think that is not
transferrable. Who can help. I thought I'd never get a cell phone
millenia ago, but having done so, now I can't live without one. I
don't think I want to pay for data plans and all, but, what works as
a solution these days. Thanks, in advance, for any ideas!

Rusty
