The real problem people have with Creative cards is poor drivers and
software support for low latency multi-track audio and multiple plug-ins
for digital audio work stations such as Sonar..
My older Audigy 4 pro sounds quite good and recordings are fantastic.
But, asio is a bit dodgy with some soft instrument plug-ins in Sonar.
I have not had experience with the X-FI cards yet. They should be just
fine for basic stereo recording and surround playback. But, if you are a
musician or media producer, you would be better off with more professional
gear.
I wish it was easy to compare the sound of different audio devices.

actually that is not really true.
the quality of the creative cards are quite good.
better then some of the other brands i have heard. other then that i
would
go with some others that i have heard but are well out of a persons
price
range but still the creative cards are great and the x-fi series is
worth
the money that you would spend on it.
