Does anyone know where this would be in windows 7? I can't seem to find it.

Hello,
Appologies if this has already been covered in this thread.  Open the
Windows Volume Control and press the alt keyto get to the options menu.
Arrow down past the properties dialog and you'll hit the advanced controls checkbox. Make sure this is checked. Depending on the card you'll either
get tone controls or the ability to boost your mic gain by 10db.  It
varies with the card and I have come across both.  HTH.
