Subject: A computer 101 question about copying.

Hi everyone, I feel rather dumb posting this question to this list of highly skilled computer techs, but I can't figure out what to do but ask for help.
   Let me explain this situation.
I received a cd from a friend which contains music copied from a real-to-real tape. It is just one 45-minute long file with no separate tracks. My plan is to copy this cd from the cd drive to a folder in the my music directory, then I will import this file to goldwave, and make 10 tracks, one for each song on this disk, and them do more editing as needed. This was not a commercial disk and I don't think it is copy protected. However, since there is no file name, other than track1, I don't know how to copy the material. When I go to copy this long file to the clipboard, all that copies and pastes is track 1, shortcut. I have winamp 5-something, and windows media. I tried copying or sending this long file to the designated folder, but all that coopies is the shortcut name.
What am I doing wrong, or what do I need to do to correct this.
Thank you.
Vinny
